The Alaska 42 represents a harmonious and charming family boat. Safety, functionality and a cosy appearance are all part of this spacious family cruiser.
A new concept signed by the experts of Barke Bonom team is especially reflected in the interior which is carried out in the southern style, which gives this boat a new atmosphere. This interior is made in retro-style and teak, of course, but this time even softer and more pliable in comparison with before.
Following our commitment to make this boat an important place of social life, the space for sitting in the saloon has been significantly enlarged, and we are particularly proud of the new way the settee and the captain's place have been carried out. New materials and fillings have made this part of the boat comfortable even for a long-hour stay, regardless of the position - sitting or lying down.
The kitchen has also been enlarged by fitting a new in-built model of electric oven and a refrigerator. The "old" additional refrigerator of 200 l is still situated in the same manner, only this time inside the bench at the entrance to the saloon (opposite the kitchen refrigerator), which enables simpler carrying of food supplies on or taking them out off board or the stern...
We are sure that even a bigger bed in the master stateroom cabin (200 x 165 cm) raises the previous level of commodity. With that view, more wardrobes have been added to the master stateroom, which also gained two new lateral windows. Wardrobes in the other cabin have been significantly enlarged. The new Alaska 42 also has a new generation of air conditioner Marine Air with 40 000 BTU, a new toilet line Jabco Silent Luxury has been mounted, just like new inox door locks, and halogen and LED lights by a famous Italian manufacturer Suardi.
When it comes to devices, the generator of 7.5 kW can be replaced with the one of 9.5 kW. The former battery charger of 60 A has been replaced with a new one of 80 A. It must be said that the new line of engines Cummins - common rail QSB 5, 9, 2 x 380 HP has a stronger bow thruster of 95 kF (compared to the former of 75 kF), and a possibility for fitting a trolling function (for fishing). New sound and thermal insulation has been provided in the engine room.
With the existing concept of sliding doors, foldable doors present another option (so called Air Craft). We have also mounted wider and thicker double door to the saloon, still in solid teak.
The helm station offers new solutions as well: it is equipped with navigational equipment Raymarine C 120, also providing a possibility for extension of the GPS and Radar system with many additional functions. BEP devices for monitoring different systems on the vessel have been mounted for the first time and the steering wheel has been teak-paneled.
As regards other equipment, we have introduced a new stern windlass Maxwell 1000, a possibility of fitting a new American system JABCO for deck, anchor and chain washing with sea water. The former stern platform made of polyester has been changed - the new one is teak-paneled and 10 cm wider than the previous one, now measuring 125 cm. It also has accompanying new swimming ladder.
The new atmosphere is completed with the hard top extended by one meter, and the mood is wrapped up with a new line of halogen and led lights in the saloon and cabins. LED lights are also mounted in the cockpit, in the external lateral stairway and in the zone of anchor windlass. There are also two speakers mounted in the cockpit. The design and the quality of inox bulwark with teak handrail have been improved, and a new hydraulic passerelle, 2.60 m long, with LED lights, produce of Bioinox factory, has been mounted.
Alaska 42 surely satisfies the whishes of the most demanding nautical experts thanks to her sofisticated technical equipment, quality solutions and her new charm.
Absolutely everything necessary for long cruises is placed inside this 12.70 m long and 4.25 m wide boat. From the inside and the outside, she is abundantly plated with elegant teak. Her recognizable stern is connected with the spacious saloon and kitchen, and on this boat particularly takes advantage of the space for daily and nightly residence.
The warm cosiness below deck is contained in the spacious owner’s cabin and another separate cabin with two beds. Both can be equipped with accompanying bathrooms with separate showers, and both are furnished in the classical maritime style. The saloon, i .e. kitchen space, is well organized and equipped, where the spacious working surfaces allow for preparation of even the most complicated of delicacies.
The great field of sight in all directions in the course of sailing and manoeuvring in a harbour has been achieved by use of the large front and side windows, as well as the side and stern doors. The high standard of technical equipment, autonomy of up to 800 miles, great “sea-gripping”, economical fuel consumption and the manufacture of all the parts of the boat, are the basis of a very strong argument while considering this particular Alaska model.
New in 2008
Even though Alaska 42 has been sailing this part of Europe, in the year 2008 this boat has also experienced changes which shall make her even closer to the sailing in the Mediterranean style, notwithstanding her northern stability.
